A young lady has made it her mission to be a student and a part time baker. Ndlovu Zandile is a 22-year-old Information Technology (IT) student at Tshwane University of Technology, born and raised in Mpumalanga.

"It is not easy running a business and being a student. I find it more difficult during exam time because you have to manage two things at once. You have to study and push a business as well, you must have faith on yourself because some situations can take you out of your comfort zone to struggle." Said Zandile

In 2020, Zandile had to figure out a way of making money, she produced an idea of baking such as scones, pancakes and vetkoeks after her parents were deported from work due to Covid-19. She started selling around her area so that she could get some money to survive at home and to save some for registration at school.

Her biggest accomplishment is that her baking business is still running, she explained, "It was tough in the beginning of all of this, especially when I moved from my town to school, at home I was being assisted by one of my siblings but here I have to stand for myself."

She went on with her business seeing it bloom with orders coming in daily. Going door to door to deliver around Soshanguve, people now hire her for their events.

According to  her roommate Mabasa Nhlaluko, she even created a Tik Tok account posting videos of her business and now customers are coming in large numbers. She also teaches people how to bake during holidays.

One of her customers, Veronica Mathye (20) said, "what Zandile is doing is very great. I wish her business does not end her, she is incredibly talented and a multitasking person. She also does people's hair in spare time."

Every single time that I put in work, I get a proportional number of results, the more work I put in, the more success occurs in my life. It takes responsibility to keep yourself motivated, says Zandile.
